The only negative that I remember about it was that > the people at the golf course complained we flew up in a rented 172 and could not get back out for a day > and then it was not good. > PS: Very much dislike "banquets" in hangars. Hamburgers and hot dogs, but > not "banquets". Not to pick on you Dan, but these are just two examples of emails I, and the KR net has received to prove my point. I'm not going to make everyone happy, no matter what I do:-) Yes, we can use I39 but I want to look at all the amenities of the airports in the area. I feel an obligation to keep it close, as I was voted to hold the gathering, and to provide a setting that both is inviting to the pilots and also their families. I think was to many times we look at what "we" want and leave the family out of the enjoyment. I39 would offer touring the craft capital of KY along with horse country tours, bourbon trail, hangar for KR's camping but no campsite, out away from most anything, no food on site while Rough River, where the gathering has previously been held, would offer rooms on site, golf, miniature golf, boat rental, hiking trail just outside of the room doors, a breakfast and lunch buffet at the lodge along with a campsite, camping beside your airplane but no hangars. It's all a juggling act, what is fine with some not with others. Only thing I can say, I'll give it my best. You pilots, chime in off the net if you want, give me your thoughts.
