Steve Bennett at Great Plains Aircraft advises: "I would rather you don't as 
you won't have the oil film to protect the bearings from the crankshaft as 
the weight will push the oil film out."
So, I won't do that.  I'll just have to figure out some other way to work in 
the interior of my KR-2 without breaking something.

 Would the 2180 VW crank shaft
and prop flange sustain any damage while serving as a pivot for a fuselage
rotisserie?  The tail end of the fuselage would attach to the second pivot
at the tail spring.  Without wings being attached, the fuselage could be
held at 90 degrees rotation for systems installations while I stood straight
and tall.
