KR> Stored aircraft engine startup question

Greetings all,
    I'd like to pick your collective brains on the proper engine prep for 
starting an 1830 VW engine that has been sitting quietly in a partially 
built KR2 for maybe five (5) years.  Bear in mind this questioner barely 
knows the difference between a push rod and a pretzel rod.  Thanks much
