They are a good choice for flaps in a small mechanical footprint, the problem that you may encounter is drag. Split flaps produce a higher amount of drag than other flap designs. Considering the weight of the KR, to rapid or to much extension on to large of a surface could cause rapid deceleration and/or much more power to remain at approach speeds. This will be the most dangerous in gusty situations as a deceleration caused by a gust may require a large change in power to recover and keep from stalling. If you do choose this option, I would recommend extensive testing at altitude before deployment of over 25 degrees in a landing situation. They could also greatly affect your ability to climb in a go-around situation.
