I’m gaining time in my “new-to-me” KR with a tailwheel. Over the past
weekend, the rudder horn failed. Luckily I had a spare, installing it was
easy and I’m flying again.

I think it was built with architectural U-channel material. If you look
closely at the upper part of the hinge/ rudder horn, you’ll see the sharp 90
degree inner angle.

The second photo shows the rudder horn and a hinge segment I built for my
KR-2S some years ago. That horn was made from some 90 degree structural
angle. Notice the nice radius in the material. The hinge segment was built
from U-channel material and again with the nice radius. I’ve been searching
and cannot find the 1” and 1 ¼” OD U-channel material anywhere. It’s
disappeared. Like the 4” x 3” material we used to use for rudder pedals…

I’m looking for help in finding real “aviation-grade” 1” OD 1/8” thick
U-channel with radiused inner corners. Is there such a thing anymore? Where
do you get it?

Thanks!
