With experience and in a 2S nose dragger, a 25 mph crosswind at 45 degrees was
a piece of cake for me. When I arrived at the 2012 KR Gathering I made my
shortest landing ever in N886MJ. The weather was not good that day as a matter
of fact I landed 30 miles northwest of Mt Vernon because I had to wait for
weather to lift some over MVN. Anyway when I did decide to go in, MVN had 20+
gusting. I chose runway 33 and made the very first turn off and if you look at
an airport diagram that is a very short distance. There was never a time in the
552 hours I flew N886MJ that the winds kept me from departing or arriving an
airport.
