Engine monitoring was recently mentioned in a message. I'd like to gain some information on that topic. I built a Stratux ADSB receiver (http://stratux.me/) following online instructions and a few relatively inexpensive electronic components. The main piece of the hardware is the Raspberry Pi microcomputer (https://www.raspberrypi.org/ ) and it is inexpensive at about $40. After seeing the solution at work, I tried to find a similarly-based solution for engine monitoring. No luck.
Everything I found for engine monitoring is in the $1200+ range to get CHT, EGT, Oil temp & pressure, RPM and logging. Langford installed the GRT product in his airplanes (http://grtavionics.com/home/product-guide/#eispkg ) For my Revmaster it is over $1300. Another match is from JP Instruments (https://www.jpinstruments.com/shop/edm-350/) and the "Basic" model with 4CHT & 4 EGT is $800. Adding RPM, OP & OT bring it up to almost $1800 Does anyone know about single instrument engine monitoring solutions for under $1000? Thanks.
