Anybody know anything about these engines, or whether they’d be a good fit for a KR?
I looked up the Viking Engines website and on one hand, the performance seem decent, but on the other I’d be on edge running a little Honda engine at 4000-5000 RPM for the duration of an entire flight. That just doesn’t seem like a task that the little Honda Fit engine was once designed for. I am also having a hard time picturing their 90 HP engine only weighing 159 lbs (listed on their website). After adding a radiator & coolant, fuel injection system, computer, and reduction gearbox, that figure seems awfully light for such a high powered motor. The 130 HP model seems a little reasonable, at 220 lbs, about the same as a Corvair. Could this be the weight of just the engine without the above attachments?
