KRNetHeads,
Last week I got a little crazy for some KR flight time, so I did what I
usually do,FLY SOMEWHERE! I started at Guntersville, Alabama, where the
airport is in the middle of the Tennessee River, with an approach over
the water....two touch and goes, then to Albertville...two more touch
and goes, then Gadsden (near Mike Slyvester's Talladega airport)...two
more touch and goes, then Oneonta, which I've never been to before, for
two more touch and goes, then Cullman for another pair of touch and
goes, then Hartselle for another pair of landings, and finally back
around Huntsvsille's airspace to land back at my home airport. This was
a lot of fun, but more importantly, helps to keep me in the habit of
looking up looking up airports while "on the fly", getting runway info,
frequencies, weather, and local traffic, finally calling in and
arranging to fit into the pattern with the rest of the traffic, knocking
out landings at unfamiliar airports, setting course for the next one,
and so on.
Filling out my "pilot info" stuff for insurance a few weeks ago, I
noticed I'm just shy of 4000 KR landings in my log book. Considering the
narrow runway I fly out of, I guess I should consider myself lucky so
far. that I've only been "out in the weeds" a few times so far! Basic
skill sharpening I guess, which most folks I fly with would tell you is
something I could always use more of. Keep it up folks, and don't get
rusty. See enclosed image....
