Michael,

I was considering your situation during my morning shower and came to the following conclusion.  If I were in your situation rather than trying for folding / removable wings I'd finish the aircraft for best possible flight characteristics and look in to a 100% aircraft cover for outdoor tie down.  Removable / folding wings will be a disincentive to go flying as well as the design obstacles needed to overcome.   A good cover should be good for several years I'd think.  The canopy would be my main concern as any continuous movement of the cover my cause scuffing.  Other areas of the aircraft are paint and paint is paint.  I comes in a spray can.  I have no idea what year around weather your area faces but a good UV cover would be my first concern, that and good tie-down points.  Food for thought.........
