thanks Larry for the encouraging story about your oak kitchen chairs. Oak is high quality wood indeed, but not sure if treated Oak wood were used for all spars in all the KR2 kits sold in the past?!
Also, it is highly doubtful that KR2 builders would store their unfinished projects in air conditioned garage for 20+ years of it was never finished and gets sold in the end....
