The moral of his story (and so many others), is to finish building the
damn plane, because you are one failed medical away from not being
able to fly anymore!

You won't know when your last flight will be until AFTER it happens.
Mine, at this point, was last October on a biscuit and gravy flight.
I'm still hoping to change that.
