Good insight and I will surely get there at some point. I am still feeling out
this plane as its TO and landings are much different then when it had tricycle
gear and the handling is much different than the Aeronca 7ac I have been
flying. One thing I did during the rebuild was to make the tail larger and use
the P51 profile. The vertical stab is slightly larger and I added 2" top to
bottom aft on the rudder. I am quite happy with the modification as it seems
to have the authority I had hoped it would. Another thing I noticed is that I
am almost exclusively using differential braking to taxi with a little pedal
assist. The Heel brakes make that an easy chore. Another good decision was to
install the Grove (Cleveland) calipered disc brakes. These are very effective
and can hold the plane at full throttle. Oh and I initially had a solid
tailwheel too. That lasted only one flight and I quickly changed it to a
pneumatic one. Learning as I go.
