I hadd the same potential problem in Xubuntu 22.04 on 5th August when running sudo apt full-upgrade but aborted when I saw much of the GUI was to be removed.
Running sudo apt upgrade was successful but following a reboot re-running sudo apt full-upgrade again just to test the system, wanted to remove much of the GUI. Running the full-upgrade command once more on 6th August all was back to normal.
