The following is very odd.

Setup: I install Ubuntu from the same USB drive. I tried to install with
updates during the installation and without.

Result: Installations period to Friday, worked with no issues.
Installation afterwards, end up with a red stop sign icon on the top-
right menu bar. And a message:

An error occurred, please run Package Manager from the right-click menu or
apt-get in a terminal to see
what is wrong. The error message was: 'Error: Marking the upgrade (E:Unable
to correct problems, you
have held broken packages.)' This usually means that your installed
packages have unmet dependencies

Because the above occurs even in installations without updates from the
Internet, this suggests that the bug is not fetched during the
installation, but is built into the OS. Probably the part that checks
the package. However, because this was not a problem prior to Friday,
the bug must be in something that it checkes with online.
