*** To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** , it was close... I can tell you that on a dual cabinet, you can use serial port (master) or serial port (slave) for smdr(default) or programming (blink a lead and send CR). Either one will work, just the same as the other. This bailed us out of a big crunch when the master serial port locked up. (You know the drill, a few hours of port 01 "patching", and no back up!) The slave port started sending smdr when we moved the laptop cable from the master... and starting the tool showed that it was connected... and worked fine. I never pulled a second laptop to test what happens when a cord is connected to the slave, while the master is still connected. Will be backing up a dual this weekend, I'll try that, since that system has a pc capturing smdr on the master all the time. happy new year -larry --- Michael Karaman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Yes the 2 ports are active and have different > programming options in 806 & > 807. > > I still believe that you have to use the main > cabinet for programming and > run the smdr off of the 2nd. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
