The manual is of little use with the KX-TD500, as only a very few programs can be done from the telephone. You need the actual programming software, and an understanding of how it is programmed. The KX-TD500 uses "group" programming and you must have a clear understanding of it.
Ask your contractor for the programming software and a training course on how to use it. Considering his unavailability to service you in an expedient manner, this may provide a resolution. Failing that, find some else that can provide local service. Better still, have a modem card installed and him him dial in to make changes.
