The material in the Suttle "Corro-Shield" jacks is definitely NOT the same
as Silicone sealant or the goo inside UY connectors!

It is a special formulation that moves out of the way when a plug is
inserted, and moves back to cover the jack wires when the plug is removed.

They are highly recommended for outdoor and damp locations, especially since
ring voltage in a Panasonic system will often cause a damp or corroded jack
to "answer" a ringing line!

As far as I know, the jacks are not actually water-tight, so you should use
a sealed or wet-use cover to keep water out of the wall behind the jack . . .
and use the "other" goo's as needed to make the whole installation
waterproof.

Suttle made a lot of the Corro-Shield jacks in traditional telephone
varieties, so I'm not surprised that they're discontinuing some of the
products.

They also make a Category 5 data version, and an RJ-25 that fits in some
"keystone" modular wallplates (but not all of them).
