Michael, You once had you pricing ridiculously low at one time,<

NONONNONOOOOOOO! We never had ridiculously low prices.

Harry, I'm _really_ getting fed up with accusations like this.<G>

We get blamed for business disruption, but the only thing we should be "blamed" for, is high visibility. We have multiple websites, excellent search engine positions, lots of customers, and recommendations from PC Magazine and other publications. We succeed because we're good -- not stupidly underpriced.

Unlike some of the people in this business, we know the cost of doing business, we want to stay in business, and we are not embarassed to make a profit. We are frequently attacked by installers, who apparently confuse us with other online dealers who sell at P-price.

and had to compete against your ads, later you raised your prices a little more since we started complaining about it 2-3 years ago(thanks)<

WRONG AGAIN! Harry, are you confusing us with someone else? Maybe another dealer with "Able" in their name?

Our prices have been quite stable. Our prices for KX-TD products have not changed since May of 1998 (the oldest price list I can find). We recently raised prices on the KX-T7885 and 7895 by $2 each to cover freight increases. We lowered our price on the TVS50 by $50 because of competitive pressure.

And isn't the KXTD a certified product? ....<

Sure it is, but it does not have the same restrictions as KXTDA..

If home depot or sears would sell kxtd ksu's you and us would have a threat<

Home Depot does not sell KXTD, but they do sell buttsets, tone generators, punchdown tools, 66 blocks, electric screwdrivers, phone jacks and wire -- just like our www.PhoneGeeks.com site; and we don't feel threatened at all.

Twenty years ago, Sears had a chain of "Business Centers" selling Lucent systems. The business centers were closed. Lucent stopped making phone systems. You and I are still in business. I guess they were not much of a threat.<G>

Wouldn't we?....think about that!
No matter how you slice it how can you compare our profession and industry
to mechanics, carpenters, plumbers, doctors, and farmers, and washers?
It's like saying I want to save the animals and eat steak

No. What I was saying that most of the installers who condemn do-it-yourself phone installation, do other things themselves, to save money, or because they can get it done quicker or better, or because it's fun.

When my new house was built five years ago, I hired another company to run the low voltage wire, because I did not have the time to do it myself. I hired painters last Spring, because I hate to paint. When AbleComm needed a VOIP link set up for an employee who works from home, we hired someone else to do it, because our people are not networking experts. When I was in my 20s, I did oil changes. I no longer find much satisfaction in crawling under cars, and I can afford to pay Firestone to do it.

OTOH, this morning my wife decided she wants a cordless phone in the kitchen. I don't think cordlesses belong in kitchend (wet hands and hard floors), but if I can't change her mind, I sure won't pay someone else to install it.<G>

_Every day, every one_ makes choices about hiring others and doing things themselves. (Are you going to drive, call a cab, or hire a chauffeur?)

It just seems hypocritical to condemn D-I-Y in some areas where it costs you money, and support it in other areas where it saves you money.
