I purchased a Panasonic 816 last year and have been quite happy with it.
All computer modems at home access an outside line through the 816.
However, ever since the 816 was installed, we've been having difficulty
connecting to the Internet at speeds greater than 24Kb, despite the fact
that the modems are rated at 56Kb. I've been hounding the phone company
ever since regarding our phone lines, thinking that it must be a line problem.
I just recently acquired a new computer and during installation, I plugged
the modem to a direct line which bypassed the PBX. Was I surprised to
discover, when connecting to the Internet, that I was actually running at
50Kb instead of the sluggish 24Kb (sometimes, even 19.2Kb). I switched the
connections back and forth, using and bypassing the Panasonic 816, and sure
enough the modem connection slows down whenever I access an outside line
through the PBX.
By the way, I've configured our Panasonic by using a PC equipped with
Programator.
Is there something I can do to the 816 configuration to solve this problem?
Thanks,
Ramon
