I think this problem is escalating. My hope was that the holiday period could give us time to finish the translation of 4.4 but it didn't happen.
Translating with Pootle is PITA. And for the Danish translation I can say that we have more or less given up on it. At least two of our regular translators has left the project (temporarily I hope) because of this situation. I think the issue should be raised to management level or at least be prioritized.
