I'm writing to request permission to contribute to the Welsh (Cymraeg,
Cy) localisation on Pootle.
WithoutPootle rights, Ihave had to report errorsand suggest corrections
by way of emails to the Welsh project lead, often having to give
guidance as to the location and context of the strings and/or
laboriously taking, editing and attaching screenshots. Ifeel this is a
lot of needless time and effort and is against the spirit of openness.
Using LibreOffice in my job as a translator over the past year I have
noted around fifty further instances of typos, mistranslations,
inconsistencies, etc in the Welsh LibreOffice suite. The project and its
users would benefit from these being corrected. I would much rather
particiapate openly by spending a few minutes making the suggestions
publicly in Pootle for the community to review rather than continue to
spend hours submitting each in a continuing series of private
emailconversations.
I have contributed to the cy.libreoffice.org website localisation (with
permission granted in SilverStripe, not Pootle) and have translated and
adapted this LibreOffice video to
Welsh(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjggFWx8lXQ). Ihave also
contributed to Welsh localisationsof Skype, VLC, Notepad++, Doodle,
SubtitleEdit, FileZilla, uTorrent, Mozilla.
Diolch.
Aled
