Thanks for the information. I feared it's me and/or my skills again to be
blamed - cf. Pauli effect [1]    :‑)

I put Gmail's quote functionality to a severe test and discovered a tiny
bug. I might be inclined to report it
once Google/Alphabet Inc. recognizes graciously that my phone number
exists and that  it can send and receive mails.
(AFAIK it exists  &  it can).
