Irvine -- Subversity, a KUCI public affairs program, features an interview Tuesday, March 6, 2001 with Mark C. Rosenzweig, the archivist at the Reference Center for Marxist Studies, which is maintains the archives and records of the Communist Party, USA. The show airs on KUCI, 88.9 fm in Orange County, from 4-5 p.m. on Tuesday, and is Webcast at kuci.org. Rosenzweig disputes a transfer from Russian state archives to the Library of Congress of microfilmed copies of CPUSA documents that went sent to the Soviet Union for safekeeping during the Red Scare. Rosenzweig suggests that the transfer may violate archival practice since the CPUSA was never consulted. The LC responds that the transfer is legal under Russian law. Rosenzweig is seeking support for an open letter to LC that he has drafted.
