Irvine -- Orange County was the center of a new social movement, one that led to the Reagan presidency. So says Lisa McGirr, a historian at Harvard, and the author of a new book, "Suburban Warriors," about the emergence in Orange County in the 1960s of committed conservatives who organized a social movement that enabled Ronald Reagan to win the presidency two decades later. McGirr will be the guest on Subversity, a public affairs interview program, on KUCI, 88.9 fm in Orange County, brodcasting from Tuesday, June 12, 2001, from 4-5 p.m., and Web-cast simultaneously via kuci.org. Her new book, which focuses on Orange County, and its history of Republican conservative activism, is published by Princeton University Press.
