First I hope everyone got home safely from the CL fundraiser in Venice last night. It got a bit hairy out there. One strange things was high water on the transition road from the East 10 to the North 405 and thats high in the air.
Well the regular Motley Crew of CL supporters were the majority of the 130 or so folks that came out in the driving rainstorms. Being activists their donation abilities is usually already stretched. And though they use them, many people that could afford larger donations rarely come to these events. There were the glaring no shows people we supported over the years. We were disappointed in KPFK for not giving us some air time, we were really to offer premiums for their fund drive. On the positive side, we had 4 great musical acts and great food for $15, couldn't find a better proposition anywhere. Sara Messenger and Ross Altman were both a treat and the Super Broke Brass band great, an hour or more of rocking music, comedy and politics. Sara came all the way up from San Diego. Frank Dorrel and his family put out yeoman's efforts, including bankrolling the initial expenses which he isn't going to get all of it back. Couldn't give enough thanks for all the folks that help put this on and those that braved the storm Of course if you couldn't come you can still make donations to CL.
