FOR IMMEIDATE RELEASE: Press Contact: Argentina D�vila-Lu�vano, Deputy State Director for Women at 925 813-2178 LEAGUE OF UNITED LATIN AMERICAN CITIZENS TO CONDUCT WOMEN'S SUMMIT CALLING FOR AN END TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN The California State League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC's) Women's Commission; the largest and oldest Latino Civil Rights Organization in the country is hosting a Women's Summit to call for eradicating Violence Against Women. The Summit will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 18-19 2005. The Friday event starts from 1-4 p.m. at Los Medranos College in Pittsburg, California. Dr. Cynthia Bejarano, from New Mexico State University and Mrs. Joanne Abu Qartoumy, Palestinian American Congress - Spokeswoman Union of Palestinian American Women will address attendees. A VIP reception will follow at Concord Hilton Hotel from 6-8 p.m. The Women's Summit resumes on Saturday from 8-5 p.m. at the Concord Hilton Hotel with breakout sessions on violence against women; health care needs; and employment and appointments to local, state and federal commissions and boards. The Keynote Speaker will be State Senator Liz Figueroa from State Senatorial District 10. Congresswomen Loretta Sanchez, US Congressional District 47, and Hilda Solis, US Congressional District 32, will address the summit through the use of a pre-recorded video tape in which they endorse and embrace the efforts of LULAC to eradicate violence against women.
