#4 The Sand Storm: Stories from the Front in Laguna Beach
Saturday, June 11th -- 3 PM and 8 PM
BC Space Gallery is proud to present two showings of
The Sand Storm: Stories From the Front on Saturday,
June 11, 2005. This powerful and timely multimedia play
was written by a young marine who recently returned from
duty in Iraq determined to tell of his and his comrades experiences
in that theatre of war.
Sean Huze was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA from a military
family and enlisted, against his father's advice, on September 12,
2001 just after the terrorists attack on this country. His patriotic
fervor changed to disgust, frustration, and anger after he observed
first hand the horror of what is being perpetrated over there both
on the young American soldiers and the Iraqi civilian population.
He came home determined to tell of his disillusionment and
what he actually observed in the best way he knew how
by writing a play about it.
Sand Storm has been presented in New York and Los Angeles
to critical acclaim, and is being brought to BC Space for a special
benefit performance for and by Operation Truth, of which Corporal
Huze is a member. Operation Truth was founded only last summer
to try to get real images and stories from the front out to the world.
It is rapidly growing in membership and has used the internet to
galvanize like-minded observers of this war and activist veterans
in ways unavailable to previous generations of soldiers. Operation
Truth is on line at www.optruth.org/main.cfm.
There will be two presentations of The Sand Storm on June 11,
2005. The first will be a preview at 3 PM for which a $20 donation
is requested (although no one who needs to learn these stories
will be turned away for lack of funds). The main performance will
be at 8 PM for $25 and will be followed by a panel discussion
with the soldiers/actors and members of Operation Truth.
Seating is limited so advance reservation is encouraged.
For further information please contact BC Space Gallery,
235 Forest Avenue, Laguna Beach, 92651, (949) 497-1880

#7 San Clemente Food not Bombs every Saturday,
3 PM
From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
We have decided to move our serving day and free
arket to Saturday, as opposed to Sunday. San Clemente
Food Not Bombs, beginning in March, will be serving in
Max Berg Park at 3pm every Saturday.
Some new projects within San Clemente Food Not
Bombs have been:
providing clothes, house supplies, appliances, and anything
else donated that would be of use to the lower income families
which we work with in our community.
Books Not Bombs. BNB collects and redistrubutes reading
material, preferably progressive and historical writings,
and offers them to the community at no cost. BNB looks to
collect, among others, childrens books to be distrubuted to
Las Palmas Elememtary School, located across from the
park which SCFNB serves at.
Finally, SCFNB has begun a small collection of youth working
to send items and love into the prison industrial complex.
Timmy and all of San Clemente Food Not Bombs
SCFNB can be contacted at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

#8 Every Sunday evening in Huntington Beach:
"Peace vigil every Sunday night at the foot of the
Huntington Beach Pier, 7-8 pm
We are a small group of people who believe in
non-violence both physically and in our thoughts.
We stand at the pier with a sign that says:"Visualize
World Peace. It's up to you". We want people to
start believing that it is possible to have a world at
peace, even if it's hard for most people to even
imagine it. We will discuss peace and non-violence
in a spirit of dignity and respect with anyone who
is rational and smile quietly at those who aren't.
With all the violence in our world, we seek to
encourage people to look at the alternative - to seek
peace in their hearts and in our world.
