ABOUT THE FILM:
With brutal honesty and a touch of irony, The End of Suburbia explores
the
future of the "American Way of Life" as the planet approaches a critical
era, as global demand for fossil fuels outstrips supply. Many scientists
and
policy makers argue that world Oil Peak and declining fossil fuels are
now
upon us. Consequences of inaction in the face of this crisis are
enormous.
What does Oil Peak mean for North America? As energy prices skyrocket in
coming years, how will suburban populations react to the collapse of
their
dream? Are today's suburbs destined to become tomorrow's slums? In what
ways
are conflicts like that in Iraq yet another reflection of escalating
resource wars to control finite fuels? What can be done now,
individually
and collectively, to address this crisis?
DIRECTIONS:
The library is in downtown Glendale, at 222 E. Harvard Street, at the
corner
