Joseph Cirincione

Joseph Cirincione is the Director for Non 
Proliferation at the Carnegie Endowment for 
International Peace. He is one of America’s best 
known peace and disarmament experts, appearing 
frequently on CNN, ABC, NBC, PBS, NPR ­ and 
occasionally on Comedy Central. The National 
Journal listed Cirincione as one of the 100 
people who will play a critical role in the 
policy debates of this administration. He is the 
author of numerous articles on proliferation and 
weapons issues, including WMD in Iraq: Evidence 
and Implication and producer of the award winning 
DVD, The Proliferation Threat.


Monique C. Harden

(Biography) Monique Harden provides legal counsel 
and advocacy support to organized communities, 
and has contributed to important environmental 
justice victories that have protected people from 
the damaging health and environmental burdens of 
industrial pollution.  Ms. Harden is the 
co-director of Advocates for Environmental Human 
Rights (“AEHR”), a nonprofit, public interest law 
firm in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA that she 
co-founded with attorney Nathalie Walker in 
2002.  AEHR provides innovative human rights 
litigation and a broad range of public advocacy 
to defend the human right to a healthy 
environment.  On behalf of African American 
residents in Mossville, Louisiana, Ms. Harden and 
AEHR legal staff filed the first ever human 
rights petition that seeks reform of the United 
States environmental regulatory system. The 
petition was filed with the Organization of 
American States Inter-American Commission on 
Human Rights in M! arch 2005.  Ms. Harden also 
coordinates international coalitions of community 
organizations advocating for human rights and 
environmental justice.  Since Hurricane Katrina, 
Ms. Harden has been advocating for the right of 
Gulf Coast residents to return to healthy and 
safe neighborhoods.  Her achievements in 
environmental justice and human rights has been 
featured in televised and print news, as well as 
books, magazines, and documentaries.
