They witnessed the massive out pouring of support for the re-election of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez who received over 63% of the total vote over his main challenger and U.S. backed candidate, Manuel Rosales. They met with many movement leaders, grassroots groups, government officials and alternative media activists while in Caracas and had meetings with the Ministry of Culture, BanMujer (Women's Bank), Convergence of Movements and Peoples of the Americas (COMPAS), Proyecto Dignidad, Catia TV, Radio Negro Primero, the Alternative Communication School - Fabricio Ojeda, Venezuelanalysis and meeting with leaders in the neighborhoods of La Pastora and 21 de Enero. They stood with thousands of Caracqueños in the pouring rain to celebrate the victory speech of President Hugo Chavez at Miraflores palace. They come back very inspired and committed to support the people of Venezuela and the Bolivarian Revolution. Eva Golinger is a Venezuelan-American attorney and author of the best-selling books, The Chávez Code (2005) and Bush vs. Chávez: Washington's War on Venezuela (2006). Since 2003, Eva has been investigating, analyzing and writing about US intervention in Venezuela using the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to obtain information about the US Government's efforts over the past few years to destabilize Hugo Chávez's presidency. Through the FOIA, she has hrough the FOIA, she has uncovered more than US$50 million in financing to anti-Chávez groups from the U.S. government since 2001 and in October 2004, she obtained top-secret documents from the CIA under the Freedom of Information Act, demonstrating prior knowledge and complicity in the coup. Since then, she has continued to receive more declassified documents under the FOIA and she has published two books in five languages (English, Spanish, French, German and Italian) on the subject of US Intervention in Venezuela, with particular emphasis on use of the National Endowment for Democracy and the USAID to fund opposition activities, penetrate civil society and undermine Venezuela's democratic revolution.
