Subject: [NPJ_EE] STOP THE SOUTH CENTRAL INJUNCTION
Los Angeles judge issued temporary extension of South Central
Injunction (110-Crenshaw, MLK Blvd-52nd st) until a final hearing
9am, Wednesday, March 5. The extension can only be credited to
community resistance. We must step up the pressure--& we badly need
legal help. We are open to all ideas to stop the injunction. We
were able to contact someone actually served by the injunction . He
is a grown man with a family, working for LAUSD. He is not a
gangbanger & should not be targeted. & now we have a copy of the
injunction paperwork. Among the terms are:
"DO NOT ASSOCIATE: Standing, sitting, running, walking, talking,
riding, driving, gathering, being in the presence of, or appearing
anywhere in public view, or anyplace accessible to the public, with
any known member of...
OBEY CURFEW: (1) If under the age of 18, being out of your residence
in any play accessible to the public between 8pm on any day and 5am
of the immediately following day, unless (a) going to or from a
lawful, non gang related entertainment activity with prior parental
or legal guardian written permission... For purposes of this Order,
you must have proof of parental permission or occupation and proof of
any valid reason for being out of your residence on your person when
stopped by any peace officer;
(2) If 18 years of age or older, being out of
your residence in any place accessible to the public between 10pm and 5am...
(4) For purposes of this Order, "entertainment
activity" means activity means activities occurring at places of
entertainment open to the public and includes only events for which
admission is charged, such as theaters, movies, or sporting
events. Proof of payment for such entertainment activity (e.g.
ticket stub) must be in your possession when confronted by a peace
officer. Parties and other private, associational gatherings do not
qualify as entertainment activities.
(5)...The burden of producing evidence of the
existence of such permission, occupation, entertainment, or emergency
shall be on the defendant.
