Mourn on the Fourth of July 11 AM
North side of Santa Monica Pier Please Join the AFSC and LA Catholic Worker for a memorial service and peace walk along Palisades Park. Think fireworks might be a little inappropriate this July 4th? With over 4,000 US military and over a million Iraqis dead—with no end in sight—perhaps it's time for less fire and more light. Start your July 4th right—join us for a time of reflection with a memorial service and silent peace walk commemorating all victims of the Iraq war, and let's recommit ourselves to ending this insanity. We will gather at Arlington West Memorial, a symbolic military cemetery set up each weekend in the sands of Santa Monica Beach to commemorate US military personnel who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. It offers visitors a graceful, visually powerful place for reflection on the cost and consequences of US wars. For more information, call (323) 267-8789.
