Call the Assembly NOW!
Dear Romi,
My name is Taina Vargas-Edmond, yesterday my husband, Richard, who is a
prisoner in California told me that he received a memo saying that prisoners
will soon be forcibly sent to out-of-state prisons to comply with the Supreme
Court order to reduce the California prison population.
It is very likely that Richard will be transferred to a prison in Mississippi,
Tennessee or Arizona.
I feel devastated at the thought of my husband being sent so far away from me
when we already struggle to afford seeing each other here in California. We need
your help today to stop this from happening:
1: Call the Assembly right now before they vote on the Governor's plan today.
2: Come out to an event near you:

I am enraged that Governor Brown feels he has a right to seperate my and so
many other families, when it has been proven that having a strong family
support structure reduces the chance that someone will return to prison upon
release. If the Governor cared about public safety, he should not raid the
California budget but invest in education, jobs and social services to keep
people from going to prison in the first place.
Stand with us,
Taina and Richard
