Hello from Australia

We too have very very hot summers and our boy Rupert has a thick very curly coat, we took advise,  they suggested we trim his hair down in stages ,so half came off early summer and we kept him short and curly, we only used scissors for cutting as to shave him here in OZ could have caused him very bad sunburn  his coat through out summer was about 1 inch long and he looked oh so beautiful , photo of him in the album section
he too has those very long eyelashes only reason we did the coat cutting ourselves was we were a bit worried about him having his coat too short and looking like a poodle instead of a doodle, they really are beautiful dogs aren't they my only complaint is the jumping up when we have family visiting, he soon settles but I expect it is our fault as we forgot to tell him he isn't human !

Thank you for the replies. I thought maybe the fur would help keep
them cool. Seems they would overheat with short hair. Scheduled his
appointment for tomorrow. Our Cabe has very long wavy hair and about
2" long eyelashes :)
