I'm asking because I'm curious, not because I'm being critical.
It is my understanding that the labradoodle was initially bred to be used as a 
guide dog, in the '70's.  Poodles, although very few, had already been used as 
guide dogs at that time.  If it was just the allergy thing, why not have a 
blind person with allergies just be given a poodle?  Does a labradoodle possess 
personality traits that a standard poodle doesn't possess?
What was the reasoning?
My dog is a goldador, and I'm also curious as to why the idea of crossing 
goldens and labs came about.  Can anyone shed some light?
Does the AKC acknowledge the goldador as a breed?
