I'm asking because I'm curious, not because I'm being critical.
It is my understanding that the labradoodle was initially bred to be used as a
guide dog, in the '70's. Poodles, although very few, had already been used as
guide dogs at that time. If it was just the allergy thing, why not have a
blind person with allergies just be given a poodle? Does a labradoodle possess
personality traits that a standard poodle doesn't possess?
What was the reasoning?
My dog is a goldador, and I'm also curious as to why the idea of crossing
goldens and labs came about. Can anyone shed some light?
Does the AKC acknowledge the goldador as a breed?
