Hi Cay

I can share my opinion based on my experience in selecting a Labradoodle
over a Poodle, and other breeds, as a Service Dog. I can't say for the
original person other than I understand her husband didn't like poodles.

When I started my research for my next Service Dog I made a wish list of
everything I wanted, just as if I was creating my own dog! Then I sat down
and check marked where each breed fit in those wishes. I researched many
breeds of dogs! When I got done the Labradoodle was the hands down winner!

While I no longer have that chart, some of my requirements were, non
shedding and allergy friendly. Not because I am allergic but because I am
in medical building enough I worry about hair and allergies of those that
were around me. I wanted a breed that would draw people to me not scare
people away. My illness makes withdraw inside and I thought having a
friendly looking dog would be good therapy. Oh boy was that idea a
success, I can't go anywhere without drawing a crowd :)!!!

I wanted a dog that would not be flighty in their temperament. I jump at
sounds I don't want my dog jumping at sounds. Medium to low maintenance
for coat. I needed a dog able to handle light mobility work, so I needed
some height as well as some bulk, but ideally some height without excessive
bulk. I needed a thinking dog. I wanted a breed known for scent
work. I also needed a lower energy dog as I spend hours resting.

Anyway that is some of my requirements and I found that when I got done the
Labradoodle is for me :) Now that I have him he is the perfect dog for me!!

Shari
