Hi and thanks.  We are going to try a Lamb & Rice formula...We live in NW PA, haven't heard of any demodex mange in the area...and have not have a skin scraping done...yet. We are new to all of this, so the info is appreciated!!!

Hi, sorry it took me a hundred years but food can be a HUGE contributing factor to stinkyness. (Unless they are puppymill dogs or dogs from horrible breeders which sometimes take around 5-6 baths to get the stink out) Assuming this isn't the problem, I would try a food with a high linoleic acid (Omega 3 and 6's) content like Nutro Natural Choice, or Nutro Ultra (A little higher quality/ more holistic, ingredients) or Evo (A great food for dogs with weight problems as there are no cereal grains) by Natura the same people who make Innova. If these don't work I would start to eliminate protein sources, like maybe try a lamb and rice or just a chicken and rice formula. Your vet can do an allergy test, but it is expensive and probably worth trying to see if you can control it with diet yourself before spending the money.
I'm not sure where you live but I know that in my area we have seen a lot of demodex mange lately, have you had a skin scraping done?
I am still working on getting the stink off of my two mill doodles, I think another 2-3 baths should do it. ~sigh~
Let us know how things are coming along with him. Maybe you can tape an air freshner to his butt?? LOL!!!!

Our doodle (Holly Berry) is 6 months old. We got her for our 10 year
old daughter for Christmas, the pup was 4 months old. She scratched
and scratched and scratched, and had a strong doggie odor. The vet
said she had a staf infection, so she got a shot, benadryl, and a
round of antibiotics. Skin cleared up, but soon after the meds were
complete she was back to scratching and the odor was back. Vet gave
more antibiotics, which she's on now...

At frist the breeder said use Oatmeal Shampoo (we did). Then she told
us to treat the hot spots, we did...and now recommends a medicated
shampoo, like one with tea tree...

She's not scratching right nows, but her skin is dry and stinky...

Anyone else deal with this before?
