Oh no, in the US you can still mutilate ears and tails. Pretty disgusting. I have seen many pits and dobes with ears that have been done at home with scissors and the last australian shepherd foster I had was probably docked at home using scissors as well. There was some tissue that had grown in at the end of her tail making trimming a real treat because if you manage to hit that bit of tissue she would probably bleed to death.
I love rescuing dogs, I am pretty sure that is why god put me on this earth. Once, when one of my fosters was killed by a car 3 days after she was adopted (she spooked and pulled the leash out of the owners hand), I thought about stopping but after about one day my house felt too empty and I started fostering again. My big sabatical lasted about 10 hours, LOL. Financially it is a horrible thing to get into, even though my rescue pays for vetting a food, I still buy them food so that I can feed them a quality diet and I buy toys and treats and stuff. The rewards I get when I see a foster who came to me a  petrified mess and is now a confident, loving little animal who is so loved by it's new humans are priceless. Definately some drawbacks, but over all one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.

I thought  that tail docking was now illegal . personally I have never seen a doddle  without a tail ,maybe that horrid practice has only been stopped here in South Australia

Subject: [labradoodles] Doodle tails

I keep meaning to ask, do all doodles have docked tails? All five of the ones we got in are and I am wondering why in the world somebody would dock the tails???
Estee went home on sunday she has an awesome mommy and daddy and a doggy brother and sister. When I call them, I always "come here doodles" so she responds better to Doodles or Estee doodle, so they renamed her Doodles. I picked up another litter mate, Nike on sunday and he is already doing well. Spent sunday evening laying on some blankets watching TV with us.
Gucci is doing awesome in her obedience class, she is still nervous around new people, but it a million times better than she was just weeks ago.
I have to say I am VERY impressed with these guys.
