I like Nutro ultra puppy.  You can soak the food for 15 min in hot water if too firm for him, but I have 3.5 week old pups that are eating it as a much after soaking it for an hour without problem.  I've found nurto ultra does wonders on a labs coat which is why I use it...........Do you give him free choice on water?  there should be water down all the time  Except a few hours before bedtime.
