Hi you 2
the sugar content is the reason I only give
yoghurt 2-3 times a week, not because I think it will do much harm but
felt concerned that I might get a dog that had what we call 'hypo's ' ....over
active doodles ....... help.....Rupert has always had lots of energy
so plus a hypo ..no thanks .. giggles
there is perhaps one naughty thing I give him
but it is very rarely and that is whole milk he loves it ..I know he shouldn't
have it but it is maybe twice a month.
there are a few things we must never give our
dogs one of them is Chocolate [our kind ] it is a killer , Grapes are
another, I know there are others but can not recall for the moment
it has been lovely chatting with you
both.

Subject: Re: [labradoodles] Yogurt
I only give them yogurt if somebody has a tummy ache, every now and then I
will give it for a treat. I know that some of the "grocery store" brand food has
sugar, so it isn't going to kill them, for sure. That said, I don't know how
great it is for them. I don't give it very often, so I haven't worried too
much about it. I suppose it depends how much sugar and how often you feed it. If
you are feeding it a few times a week, I would probably stick to the regular
plain yogurt.

Hi
Aby,
I was just checking Danone website and they have sugar in that
Activa yogurt. So, I do not know is it a good idea or not to feed them sugar.
Do you offer them yogurt everyday or few times a
week? thanks runki

I talked with a vet who said that the new yogurt, activa is also good
for the doggies (and puppies) tummies. It contains a couple of other
live bacterium that the regular yogurt doesn't have.
I always give a spoonful of yogurt to new dogs as it help to
settle the little tummies that are usually nervous when coming into a new
environment. I give it if I notice runny poops as well. If the yogurt
doesn't help, I will usually add some canned pumpkin to the meals. Some of
the dogs that I get in are VERY nervous and anxious and some are very wormy.
If the yogurt and pumpkin don't help and I have wormed them, I will give
immodium. I have never had it get passed that, thank god.
Sometimes I just give them as a treat with din din. My
dogs LOVE both. My border collie loves the canned pumpkin so much that I can
give it to him off of a spoon and his head will be covered in pumpkin by the
end of the spoonful. LOL.

have no idea about that "SPAM'. I did not put it on.
I just gave
him 1 tsp. of yogurt this week, not as a meal. just introducing it. it has
acidiphilus too. i thought it might help. the website you sent it has all
kind of excellent advises. i would try to follow that. since it is a pup i
am just doing little bit at a
time.
thanks,

Hi
can you advise just how much Yogurt you would give a 10 week old, i
assume this is part of a meal what else do you give them to eat at
that time. i give Rupert [adult dog 23 months ] yoghurt 3-4 times a
week as a little treat the same applies to bones he will get those
to chew on maybe twice a week to, he also has a larger main
meal everyday. he is quite tall and must weigh around
75-80kg.
