Yes, litter numbers are usually way down when you start to line breed. It is what cookie cutter breeders see. And any defect are now multiplied. She is doing what many purebred breeders do. But, there are also breeders of both mixes and purebreds who are very concerned with COI. Thats where I get my puppies.
Take a look at zoo's they would never inbreed.

I am VERY serious about breeding my Labradoodles. I read everything, test everyone, teach, love and nurture everyone of them with all my heart. I am crushed to find out that a breeder that I used her stud services once, is line breeding. The stud that I used is clear back 3 generations and I am happy with him. I just found out that he was just bred with his daughter ( F1 ) and they now have a litter of F1b. The pups are beautiful but I thought line breeding like that was a big NO_NO for our Doodles.Does anyone know what side effects this will have on the puppies. I want to cut all association with her to protect the reputation I am trying to achieve for my kennels and my dogs.By the way, my current litter of F1s just turned 5 weeks and are really starting to fluff up. They all have such great personalities, I want to keep them all....that is until they get under my feet and pull my shoe laces!! LOL!!Kathie
