Congratulations! What really worked for us was putting a pair of my sweats in his crate, covering it with a big blanket, putting it right next to the bed, and every time he whimpered or got nervous I'd put my hand on top of the crate or thru the bars and say "settle baby" and he'd go right back to sleep - until he had to pee. Then in the day we'd move the crate to the living room and put his toys in it and leave the door open and he'd run around and play and then run into his crate and crash. Sometimes we fed him in the crate too. He ended up loving his crate and sleeping thru the night in no time. Even now (at 10 months) I can tell him to settle and he'll quiet right down and go to sleep - and he's not in his crate any longer.
Have a great time with your puppy - they stay little for SO short of a time. Oh! And take LOTS of pictures!

Our new multi-gen pup will not arrive in our home until the end of
November - but he is already in our hearts! While we impatiently wait,
I thought I would ask the forum for tips -- something - big or little
--that worked for you for the first week or so home -- and/or
something you wish you had known, or something you wish you had
purchased for the first few days/weeks?
Thanks!
