I have been sort of lurking and am new the world of labradoodles but this post hit a nerve with me too. First, I will do a brief intro.... We don't actually have a doodle running around the house but hopefully have some 'in' our house! lol. We recently purchased a beautiful, red American standard poodle from aAprina Labradoodles in whelp. She is a sweet, loving dog we named Shiloh. She is bred to Waldo on aAprina's site. We are so excited to see what she produces! We have had lots of help from many breeders in making our selection and are so grateful for all the wonderful advice and help we have received. We live on a cul-de-sac and before Shiloh, our one neighbor had the only dog and she often lets him run around off leash. He is a black lab or mix. He doesn't bite but is very intimidating. Some of the neighbors have indoor/outdoor cats and he bolts after them causing quite the commotion. He chased one cat twice in the same day the other day and injured her leg. The owners had to spend the entire day looking for her she was so scared. Also, a friend was visiting 2 weeks ago and she is afraid of dogs and he bolted toward her and she thought he was going to bite her so she jumped into her car and he almost got caught in the door. I try not to take Shiloh for walks when I see him and thankfully the owner works all day so it is 'safe' but after 4 pm it is so annoying to have to watch for her and to hope she doesn't open her door and let him out when we are walking. We walk on the opposite side of the street but he will bolt toward us barking and circling. Shiloh will start shaking and trying to get off the leash. I actually bought a harness so when she gets so scared she can't pull free. He has not bit her or hurt her but I can't even let the older children walk her in the evening as I am afraid she could pull away from them when this other dog bolts towards her. I have made subtle comments about the incident with my friend and in general but my dilemma is that we have only lived here a few months and I don't want to rock the boat. She has lived here many, many years and I don't want to be the problem new neighbor. Any ideas? The woman is otherwise nice. Thanks. Trysh Yahoo!
