Most breeders will tell you a lot about the puppies behavior . bad habits can already be there and ones you may not be able to change.
If your lucky he/she was started very well and is well behaved. check for excessive barking, not coming (this should be taught as a young pup), Biting kids and or other dogs, attaching small animals.. all sounds silly but just ask.
