Don't know if this'll work with dogs, but we always used vaseline,
crisco or spray cooking oil on horse's hooves to keep ice from
forming a ball on the frog (filling the open part on the underside of
the hoof, to those of you without horses).
I'd think the dog would just lick it off. :)
But the vaseline might work.
