We feed raw so that we can control the quality of the food our dogs receive. There are other benefits as well, such as: clean teeth, no foul dog breath, less waste, waste dissolves to dust within two days, healthy skin, better coat. Most dog foods contain corn which is known to cause skin problems, is believed to cause kidney and liver problems, and attracts fleas. Other ingredients that are in common foods such as Eukanuba are peanut hulls, ash, corn DHA and byproducts. These are things your dog should not eat.
Yes they are dogs and people will say that "my dog likes it" or "my dog does just fine eating XYZ", dog food was developed in the last 60 years and dogs have not had a chance to evolve to living on this type of food. Dogs are meat eaters. Another down fall of dog food is that it is dry! There is no moisture in it, when it gets in your dogs stomach it absorbs all of the water and expands to over twice the size. That is called bloat and is dangerous. Canned food will not keep your dogs teeth clean and will cause build up on teeth and poor oral health.
