I Lost a dog last year to 'bloat' - perhaps if the EX vet was not such an A
hole I could have gotten her to the university in time for surgery estimated
at two thousand dollars.
Surgery is available that attaches the stomach to the chest wall - my NEW
vet offers it on large dogs of susceptible breeds during routine spay.
It is a very real very life threatening emergency if gastric torsion occurs.
Also one without a great prognosis. You have a short window of time to
catch diagnose and get into the proper surgery which is much more
complicated than the preventative surgery. however torsion is not that high
an incidence in reality.

I admit, I'm a little paranoid about this, but Hayden is a large
labradoodle, 80 pounds, with a very deep chest.
I had heard somewhere that there is a surgery that you can have done
that does something to the stomach, preventing bloat.
Am I right about this and what are the experinces of others with this
type of dog?
Thanks!
