Hi. I would like to request a lab called "helpdesk".
The purpose of "helpdesk" is to be a hybrid of a maling list and a forum. "helpdesk" will have a UI, like a normal forum software, using ldap to identify committers. Each sub-forum correspond to a Mailing list. e.g. users@foo.a.o Whatever is posted in the forum is sent to the mailing list, with the same user name. Whenever somebody mails on the ML, that is picked up and converted to a post in the forum. AOO Forums is very active, so are the AOO mailing lists, but keeping information synchronized makes many loose their hair. "helpdesk" would solve this problem. There are also constant discussions about more modern user@ contacts, helpdesk will help solve this problem. The UI will be constructed with lua, with a backend in mysql. The prototype will be made using the new labs-vm. The first work will be done by Humbedooh and myself, but our intention is to build a community around the lab, and hopefully in due time move it to incubator.
