Another use I have come across is that of "it's snowing down south" - to indicate that one's petticoat (underskirt) is showing!
Out of curiosity, do such things go north in the southern hemisphere?
Nope - sorry - we here in Australia always used to say that, but I have heard it much since the introduction of the mini skirt by Jean SHRIMPTON in the late 60s :) I do recall my mother telling my younger sister Jenny to try and do something to hide her knickers!!!!!!!
